Countrywide’s SavingsLink account just dropped to 4.75% APY. However, the in-branch 6 month CD Rates went up to 5.00% APY.

4.10% APY 7-month CD at Countrywide. Seems like a good deal compared to what’s out lately. I thought things like this would filter out after BOA took over, but looks like there is still hope.

4.25% APY 8-Month and 12-Month online cd’s at Washington Mutual. It would be wise to stay under the FDIC limits. And I wouldn’t open until after the earning release tomorrow (7/22/08).

Just posted on Bank Deals… Pan American Bank is offering a special 4.70% APY 7-month CD. There is a branch on Cermak. Expected to last for 2 more weeks. Also, WAMU has a 5.00% APY 12-Month CD.

I think Nationalcity Bank has about the best rates in the Chicago area. Ck. them out: Up to 5.25% APY now (if you have another acct.there).

FYI: Pan American raised their 7-month CD to 4.80% APY! This is like the best deal in the country for such a short term. I opened one up on Saturday and it was a really easy process. Must be done in branch.

Pan American Bank’s 4.8% CD rate has dropped as of 9/22/08. The rate quoted via telephone is 3.93%.

CenTrust Bank has changed its CD rate to 4.5% as of 9/23/08, however the limit is now $100,000 instead of $25,000

Associated Bank has current CD Rate Specials in the following terms:
7M CD @ 2.25%, 13M CD@ 2.50%. These rates do require a checking account and a minimum $5000.00 opening deposit for a CD. They may give you a rate bump for larger deposits or relationship banking. They are also offering both a business and personal MM with a minimum of $10K @ 2.50%. Associated Bank has a 4 star rating with Bauer Financial and a 3 star rating with BankRate.com.

The 4%, 4month rate special at Great Lakes Credit Union posted in Dec 2008 is no longer available. The promotion ended 12/31/08

Great Lakes Credit Union, GLCU.org has an IRA rate special that will end on 4/15/09. 3.25% APY for 7months with as little as $500 to open. Looks like a great ooportunity for 401K rollovers and transfers.
