$100 Bonus for Opening LaSalle Checking and Savings Accounts
As LaSalle Bank has done occasionally in the past, they are offering a $100 bonus for customers who open a checking account, open a Statement Savings Account, and use their LaSalle Money Card debit card sometime within in the first 60 days. This bonus does not require direct deposit.
A few restrictions, which are the same as the last time LaSalle offered this deal: “The minimum balance to open a checking account to earn the $100 cash bonus is $250. To be eligible for the Bonus you are required to sign up for a LaSalle Money Card debit card and open a new Statement Savings Account with a $100 minimum opening deposit. You are also required to make a purchase with your Money Card within 60 days of account opening.” I would guess this won’t be the last time this offer is brought out, but with Bank of America’s purchase of LaSalle, it’s possible this is the final time.
LaSalle Bank is the one of the largest Midwestern banks with many branches throughout the Chicagoland area.
$100 Checking Account/Savings Account Bonus at LaSalle Bank
LaSalle Bank is offering a new $100 bonus for customers who open both a checking account and a Statement Savings Account, and use their LaSalle Money Card debit card at least once in the first 60 days. Unlike many similar deals in the past that LaSalle and other local banks have offered, this bonus does not require direct deposit.
A few restrictions: “The minimum balance to open a checking account to earn the $100 cash bonus is $250. To be eligible for the Bonus you are required to sign up for a LaSalle Money Card debit card and open a new Statement Savings Account with a $100 minimum opening deposit. You are also required to make a purchase with your Money Card within 60 days of account opening.”

Bank of America Free to Buy LaSalle Bank
This would obviously would change the Chicago banking scene drastically. From Reuters:
“A court ruling on Friday should clear the way for Bank of America Corp. to buy LaSalle Bank for $21 billion, and give it a powerful presence in the affluent Chicago area even as it boosts its exposure to Michigan and its troubled economy.
“The ruling by the Dutch Supreme Court said ABN AMRO Holding NV does not need shareholder approval to sell LaSalle to Bank of America, the second largest U.S. bank….
“LaSalle has about 411 branches, 1,500 automated teller machines and 1.4 million customers. Its addition would give Charlotte, North Carolina-based Bank of America more than 6,100 branches and push it to the 10 percent federal cap on deposits nationwide. The bank would surpass JPMorgan Chase & Co. as Chicago’s largest, with about 16 percent of area deposits.
“‘Illinois is a very important market,’ said Marshall Front, chairman of Front Barnett Associates LLC in Chicago, which owns Bank of America shares. ‘Wells Fargo….and other big banks have been trying to break in, and not very successfully. LaSalle gives Bank of America the branches and a strong position in middle-market lending.’”
$50 Checking Account Bonus at LaSalle Bank
LaSalle Bank has a new checking account deal going on right now: $50 when you open one with free Online Bill Pay or direct deposit. You have to open the account with at least $250. The other rules: “Bonus is limited to one new checking account per household, may not be combined with any other offer, is not transferable, and may be considered income to you for tax purposes. Bonus issued at account opening and is for NEW consumer checking accounts only.”
LaSalle Bank branches are, of course, everywhere in the Chicago area. You can find one near you here.
