4.00% 4-month CD at Ridgestone Bank
Ridgestone Bank has a high very-short-term CD available: Their 4-month CD is yielding 4.00% APY. The minimum deposit actually changes depending on what branch you open the CD at: The Brookfield (Wisconsin) branch has a minimum of $20,000 on this CD, while the Schaumburg branch has a minimum of $40,000. Both of which require the deposit to be new money to Ridgestone Bank.
Ridgestone Bank has two locations: 10 Martingale Rd., Suite 100 in Schaumburg, and 13925 W. North Ave. in Brookfield, WI (near Milwaukee).
4.10% 1-year CD at Earthmover Credit Union
Earthmover Credit Union has a few competitive CDs available. The best is probably their 1-year CD, which is yielding 4.10% APY. They also have a 6-month CD at 3.85% and a 3-month CD at 3.60% APY. These CDs has a $5000 minimum, but if you have an Earthmover CU checking account, the minimums drops to $1000.
Membership in the EarthMover CU is open to anyone who lives or works in DuPage County, Kendall County, or southern Kane County, as well as members of certain employers. There are six branches: Three in Oswego (including one in Oswego High School), one in Yorkville, one in Aurora, and one in North Aurora. EarthMover CU is privately insured by American Share Insurance rather than federally insured by the FDIC or FCUA.
4.10% 6-month CD at Washington Federal Bank
Washington Federal Bank has a very good short-term CD: Their 6-month CD is yielding 4.10% APY. This CD has a minimum of $1000 and requires new money to the bank.
Washington Federal Bank has two locations, both in Chicago: 2869 S. Archer Ave. and 1410 W. Taylor St.

4.00% 6-month CD at STC Capital
STC Capital Bank is offering a good short-term CD: Their 6-month CD is yielding 4.00% APY. This CD has no minimum and a $100,000 maximum. This CD is only good for new money to the bank, and there is only one CD allowed per household.
STC Capital has two locations, both in St. Charles.
14-month, 5.00% CD at Second Federal

Second Federal Savings has a very good CD for those looking to invest for around a year: Their 14-month CD has an APY of 5.00%. This CD has a minimum deposit of $5000. Second Federal also has 4-month CD yielding 4.00% APY and a 13-month CD yielding 4.20% APY (although why you would go for that over the 14-month CD, I’m not sure).
Second Federal has three locations, all in Chicago: 26th & Pulaski, Cermak & Cicero, and Archer & 43rd.
4.25% CD for numerous terms at Lisle Savings Bank
Lisle Savings Bank is offering a 4.25% APY CD for a number of different terms, including some shorter terms (where you’re less likely to find a CD yielding that high). The 4.25% APY CD is available for 6 months, 9 months, 12 months, or 18 months. The CDs have a minimum deposit of $4000.
Lisle Savings Bank has two locations, both in Lisle.

4-month, 4.00% CD at Marquette Bank
Marquette Bank has a good short-term CD: Marquette’s 4-month CD is yielding 4.00% APY. This CD has a minimum of only $500. Marquette also has a 14-month CD that has a yield of 4.25% APY which also has a $500 minimum.
Marquette Bank has 24 branches throughout the Chicago area, including branches in Aurora, Bridgeview, Bollingbrook, Chicago (7), Evergreen Park (2), Hickory Hills, Lemont, New Lenox, Oak Forest, Oak Lawn (2), Orland Park (4), Romeoville, and Summit.
CDs up to 5% at Wheatland Bank
(Sorry about the lack of posts recently — I’ve been away from Internet access for the past couple weeks.)
Wheatland Bank has a number of good and very good CD rates:
- 3-month and 6-month CDs: 4.00% APY
- 12-month, 18-month, and 24-month CDs: 4.50% APY
- 3-year, 4-year, and 5-year CDs: 5.00% APY
All these CDs have a minimum of $2500, and all of them are available as IRA CDs. Wheatland also has some a very nice money market rate (3.50% APY above $2500) and checking account rate (3.00% APY above $2500).
Wheatland Bank has one location: 2244 95th Street in Naperville.

4.25% 18-month CD at American Metro Bank
American Metro Bank has a decent 18-month CD available right now: 4.25% APY. This CD requires a $10,000 deposit to open, and the funds to open the CD must be new money to the bank. This offer is expected to last through the end of September. American Metro Bank also has a 6-month CD yielding 3.50% APY that has the same restrictions and expected end date.
American Metro Bank has four branches, including three in Chicago: the Main Bank at 4878 N. Broadway Ave., the Chinatown Branch at 2144A S. Archer Ave., and the Fullerton Branch at 4903 W. Fullerton Ave. The fourth branch is at 667 N. Cass Ave. in Westmont.
5.00% 6- and 12-month CDs at CenTrust Bank
CenTrust Bank has the best short-term CD deal I’ve seen recently: Their 6- and 12-month CDs are yielding 5.00% APY. There is a $25,000 maximum per household on these CDs and a minimum of $500.
CenTrust Bank was formerly at 400 Lake Cook Road, Suite 202 in Deerfield, but they’ve recently moved to 385 Waukegan Road in Northbrook (this deal is part of their Grand Opening).

CDs up to 4.50% at International Bank of Chicago
International Bank of Chicago has a few nice short-term to mid-term CD rates:
- 6-month CD: 3.75% APY
- 1-year CD: 4.00% APY
- 18-month CD: 4.25% APY
- 2-year CD: 4.50% APY
The CDs all have a minimum deposit of $10,000.
International Bank of Chicago has four branches: Two in Chicago (including one in Chinatown) and one each in Stone Park and Bellwood.
3% Checking and good CD rates at Wheatland Bank
Wheatland Bank has one of the best checking account rates we’ve seen recently: Their “Personal Checking with Interest” is currently paying 3.00% for balances over $2500. Below $2500, the interest goes to 0%. Wheatland also has a number of very competitive CDs:
- 3-month, 6-month, 1-year and 18-month CDs: 4.00% APY
- 2-year and 3-year CDs: 4.50% APY
- 4-year and 5-year CDs: 5.00% APY
The CDs also have a minimum deposit of $2500, and the CDs can be opened as IRA CDs and business CDs.
