4.10% 1-year CD at Earthmover Credit Union

Earthmover Credit Union has a few competitive CDs available.  The best is probably their 1-year CD, which is yielding 4.10% APY.  They also have a 6-month CD at 3.85% and a 3-month CD at 3.60% APY.  These CDs has a $5000 minimum, but if you have an Earthmover CU checking account, the minimums drops to $1000.

Membership in the EarthMover CU is open to anyone who lives or works in DuPage County, Kendall County, or southern Kane County, as well as members of certain employers.  There are six branches: Three in Oswego (including one in Oswego High School), one in Yorkville, one in Aurora, and one in North Aurora.  EarthMover CU is privately insured by American Share Insurance rather than federally insured by the FDIC or FCUA.

According to Bank Deals Blog, EarthMover Credit Union is offering a 10% — yes, 10%! — 10-month CD for new members in the credit union.  “That seems crazy,” you’re probably thinking.  “There’s got to be a catch.”  And, well, yeah, there is: The maximum amount of money you can put in the CD is only $1000, which puts some major limits on your gains.  Still, 10% is 10%…
