Good Short-Term and Long-Term CD at NorthStar Credit Union
NorthStar Credit Union is offering a good rate on their 6-month CDs: 5.22% APY. This rate may be short-term, however, as the website says that “the program is limited to $2 million.” There’s a minimum of $1000 for opening the CD. Some may be more interested in their jumbo 5-year CD, which is earning 5.16% APY for balances about $100,000 — it’s the highest rate we’ve seen in the past couple months for a CD of that term or longer.
NorthStar CU has three branches: One each in Warrenville, Naperville, and West Chicago. Their website does not list any restrictions for membership, but I’ll be contacting NorthStar to see if there are.
